Catninga is a working cattle and horse station in the Flinders Ranges, run by lifetime locals Heather and Brian below Mt Brown. The 1800s homestead — once a merino run, and a set for the 1952 film The Kangaroo — anchors a spread of stays: a carriage B&B, a vintage tiny house, a mountain hut, a shearing-shed campout and bush and powered sites. You base yourself here to walk, ride, mountain-bike or 4WD the ranges, dogs included. The owners run it as much for land regeneration as for guests.
