On the far south coast around Murramarang National Park near Batemans Bay, this coastal walk links a string of beaches, headlands and spotted-gum forest that runs right to the water's edge. Its beaches - Pebbly Beach above all - are famous for the eastern grey kangaroos that graze the sand at dawn and dusk, an image that has become emblematic of the region. The multi-day route passes rock platforms, quiet coves and old forest, with camps and villages along the way. Wildlife-rich and gentle in grade, it is among the loveliest and most relaxed of the state's long coastal walks.
