Spring GullyConservation Park

克莱尔谷, CLARE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

A short drive from Clare into the hills of the Mid North, the park protects the only stand of red stringybark in any South Australian reserve — the westernmost population of the species. The Cascades Walk, forty minutes return, follows steep ground into the creek bed of Spring Gully toward an eighteen-metre waterfall that runs after winter rain, while Blue Gum Lookout takes the longer view. Native orchids and wildflowers come up through spring, and the residents run from western grey kangaroos and euros to brush-tail possums and some fifty bird species. Entry is free; dogs are not permitted.
