Vintage and antique rooms in the inner ring, from the Alexandria warehouses across to the Potts Point shopfronts. The boundary is a circle around the city, so Newtown and the outer west sit beyond it. Markets and weekend-only stalls were left out, since this page assumes a weekday.

Seventy-plus stallholders across 2,100 square metres of Alexandria warehouse, open every day. Furniture, art, collectables, decor — stock shifts with whoever's brought what in. The Botany Road address puts it squarely in the city's design-industry corridor. Worth a morning.
Mitchell Road Antique & Design Centre

Lyn Richardson founded this warehouse antique centre two decades ago in Alexandria's big yellow building on Mitchell Road before relocating to a 2,300-square-metre space on Bourke Road. Industrial relics, mid-century furniture, lighting, jewellery, vintage fashion and Americana are all in the mix — the kind of place where film crews also come to source props.
The Merchants Warehouse

A 2000-square-metre warehouse on the corner of Booth and Guihen in Annandale, with dealers across antiques, mid-century design, industrial decor, vintage clothing, homewares, and a garden centre sharing the floor. Stock turns over daily. Pop-up exhibitions fill the gaps. Seven days a week, inner west.

Arnie Kieldgaard's vintage shop in Potts Point, stocking designer pieces — YSL, Ferragamo, Moschino, Gabriela Hearst — alongside antique flapper dresses and military memorabilia. Featured on Antiques Downunder, visited by everyone from Stan Grant to Clover Moore, and included on Kings Cross vintage walking tours. Debi Mazar wore one of his pieces on Madonna's Italian tour. The kind of shop where you go in for a browse and leave with a story.

506070 has bought and sold twentieth-century modernist design in Sydney since 1998, now from a shop on Elizabeth Bay Road. Mike runs it, and the stock leans hard into Italian lighting and furniture: Gae Aulenti's La Ruspa lamp, pieces by Martinelli Luce, Selenova and Salvatore Gregorietti, a Claudio Salocchi table for Sormani, Willy Guhl's concrete planters. Everything is restored before it goes out. The shop opens Saturdays and otherwise by appointment.

William Street in Paddington has quietly become Sydney's best address for luxury consignment, and this shop has been part of that reputation for more than 25 years. The model is straightforward: pre-loved designer womenswear taken on consignment and turned over daily, so the rails might carry a Loewe handbag, Chanel boots, Dior heels or a Gucci loafer alongside past-season pieces from The Row and other labels with genuine resale value. Unlike a general secondhand shop, the buying here is selective by brand and condition rather than by era, which keeps the stock feeling current even though everything on the rack has had a previous owner. It sits comfortably among William Street's cluster of small boutiques, drawing both regulars looking to sell out their own wardrobes and shoppers after a specific label at a fraction of retail. Two and a half decades of consistent trading in one of Sydney's more design-literate postcodes is its own kind of credential, and the shop wears it lightly rather than loudly.
