Frederick Crosby built the Cataract Bakery on the corner of York and Margaret in 1870. After his death Mary and their son Charles kept it going, and in 1897 they catered Queen Victoria's Jubilee celebration at the Albert Hall and renamed themselves the Jubilee Bakery. The original fire brick ovens are still in reception. Twenty-four rooms now run across the old shop, the stables and two Victorian terraces, with a gallery on the mezzanine and a courtyard behind. Eight hundred metres to Cataract Gorge.
