Cool-climate vineyards and open-air gorge walks point to a region best suited to the shoulder seasons, when vine growth and river flows are at their most active without summer's heat. Wildlife sanctuaries and heritage gardens reward mild days, while indoor craft studios and museums remain accessible whatever the weather, making the region workable across the calendar.
