Half an hour's drive north-east of Griffith, the Cocoparra Range lifts rugged cliffs and wooded gullies above the flat of the Riverina plain. Walking tracks thread the range — Jacks Creek, Falcon Falls, Woolshed Falls and Mount Brogden among them — with picnic areas scattered at Spring Hill, The Pines, Ironbark and Store Creek. Spring brings wattle, tea tree and orchids into flower; peregrine falcons nest on the cliffs and rainbow bee-eaters pass through. Woolshed Flat campground covers overnight stays, and the big open sky does the rest.
