Livingstone NationalPark

RIVERINA, WAGGA WAGGA, NEW SOUTH WALES

Thirty kilometres south of Wagga Wagga, the national park and its adjoining state conservation area hold nearly 2,000 hectares of bushland. The multi-use Livingstone loop track is shared by walkers, mountain bikers, horse riders and birdwatchers, and spring turns on a wildflower display of orchids, Australian indigo and kangaroo thorn. Eastern grey kangaroos, swamp wallabies, wombats and goannas are the reliable sightings; threatened woodland birds, including turquoise and swift parrots, the prized ones. The basic Dam campground suits self-sufficient campers — a 4WD is recommended, particularly after rain.
