The heritage centre occupies the old guardhouse, the first building put up on the base in 1940, which spent fifty years as guardhouse and telephone switch and still has its cells. Out at the front gate stand a Canberra that flew in Vietnam, a Meteor from Korea, a Macchi, a Mirage, and the F-111C that circled the country in twelve and a half hours in 1974. Entry is free.
