Trading since 1975, when it opened as Norma M Stock & Son, this is one of the Copper Coast's longest-running dealers and still in the same family: Norma's twin children Cheryl and Stephen run it now, with a fourth generation lately involved. It occupies the former Prince of Wales Hotel on George Street, more than 500 square metres of rooms and aisles given over to furniture, glassware, books, ceramics and general bric-a-brac. Stock turns over constantly and is arranged across cabinets and shelving that reward slow browsing; regulars describe it as a collector's Aladdin's cave. Open seven days, it works as much as a fixture on the town's antiques-and-op-shop trail as a shop in its own right, the kind of deep, unhurried country antiques store that has largely disappeared elsewhere.
