In the alpine foothills at Boorolite, two hours northeast of Melbourne, this lodge looks across Victoria's High Country toward snow-capped Mt Timbertop in winter. Two suites, Bellini and Mimosa, sleep up to eight between them. The grounds carry a small vineyard producing sparkling wine, a nine-hole pitch-and-putt, tennis, and a telescope for the dark skies. Dining bends to the guest: self-cater, order a produce box, or bring in a chef. It suits couples and groups after space and quiet activity.
