Bald Hill LookoutStanwell Tops

NSW

High above Stanwell Park at the northern end of the Grand Pacific Drive, Bald Hill is where the escarpment meets the sea in one of the most dramatic coastal panoramas in New South Wales. The view runs south along the cliffs to the Sea Cliff Bridge and the beaches of the northern Illawarra, and the grassy headland is a launch site for hang-gliders and paragliders who ride the updraft off the ocean. A memorial marks the aviation pioneer Lawrence Hargrave, who tested his flying machines here. On a windy day the sky is full of wings.
