Café Saligna sits inside Cumberland State Forest, the patch of bushland off Castle Hill Road that north-west Sydney keeps for its treetop walk and native nursery. It does breakfast and lunch seven days, with indoor tables and a deck among the gums, and the kitchen reaches well past café standards: chilli crab scrambled eggs, shakshuka, squid ink pasta with chorizo and salmon, hand-made gnocchi. Espresso and cold-pressed juices round it out. It's the obvious stop before or after a walk in the forest.
