The old Cricketers Arms Hotel on Clarendon Street, transformed in 2014 by hospitality entrepreneur George Bagios and Hassell architects into a 15-room boutique hotel that kept the mid-1800s heritage façade intact while building a modern hotel behind it. Named for Ebenezer Thomson, former South Melbourne Mayor and coppersmith by trade — copper details run through the bistro and bar. Daniel Southern's kitchen turns out the signature fish pie. Three kilometres from the CBD, walking distance to Albert Park and South Melbourne Market.
