Dominique Portet was born at Château Lafite-Rothschild, where his father managed the estate. He founded this Coldstream winery in 2000; his son Ben, trained at Beychevelle and Roederer, has been chief winemaker since 2008. The French-style bistro and pétanque terrace make a strong case for staying through lunch.
