Adam Amos arrived from Galashiels in 1821, anchoring at Hobart Town on St Patrick's Day after five months at sea. Two centuries on, his descendants planted vines on the same Cranbrook river flats he cleared by hand. The original flour mill — convict brick, walls 600mm thick — now serves as the wine store.
