Ten people met in Bob Hannant's Bundall Road workshop in February 1983. Today, around 100 members gather at the Merne and John Franklin Craft Centre in Mudgeeraba to turn timber — bowls, pepper grinders, lamp stands, vases — on lathes with hand-held chisels. The club stocks native and exotic timbers, and the public can enquire about purchasing supplies.
