Seven generations of the Hugo family have farmed this McLaren Flat estate since 1860. The dry-grown Grenache bush vines planted in 1951 still bear fruit, picked by hand for a low-yielding estate red; alongside them sit Shiraz, Fiano, Grenache Gris, Tempranillo and Nero d'Avola across 55 acres. Will Hugo runs the vineyard with winemaker Renae Hirsch. The cellar door, architecturally designed and open seven days, pours a range that has taken trophies for Shiraz, Rosé and Fiano at the Melbourne, McLaren Vale and Adelaide shows.
