Gary Mills studied literature, taught English in Japan, then spent two years making wine at Ridge Vineyards in California under Paul Draper. That backstory shows in the bottle. His Preston urban winery — opened with partner Elika Rowell in 2019, precisely where the wine is made — pours single-vineyard Victorian Syrahs alongside seasonal food from chef Frankie Hadid's kitchen. No performance, just the wines doing their job.
