Kenilworth Country Foods
Sunshine Coast Hinterland
Walk into the Kenilworth cheese factory in the Mary Valley hinterland and buy direct: club cheddars, soft cheeses, fetta, the multi-award-winning mousse in four flavours, yoghurt in seven, milk pasteurised on-site. Kraft Corporation built the factory in 1952 and ran it for decades before stepping away; John Cochrane — fourth-generation Sunshine Coast Hinterland dairy farmer, from a family with 93 years of representation on Queensland dairy boards — took over in 2017 and added the milk bottling plant in 2021 with a state government grant. Milk comes from four local family farms including John's son Kelvin's place at Kandanga. Poppas Cafe on-site does breakfast, lunch and morning tea; book ahead if you want John to walk a group through.
