A 1912 Glenferrie Road building in Hawthorn that's been a theatre, a dance hall closed by health inspectors over "immorality going on outside," a mini-golf complex, a cinema (1939-1959), a cabaret restaurant, and dormant for over a decade. Eddie and Lindy Tamir bought it in 2013 and restored eight indoor cinemas plus a rooftop screen and a Jazz Room around the original terrazzo floor and decorative plaster ceilings. First-run mainstream, arthouse, retrospectives, Cult Classics every Friday, plus Fantastic Film Festival Australia and Melbourne Filmoteca in residence.
