John Sekoranja's path to Murrumbateman ran through a Slovenian vineyard — his father's, abandoned during World War II. Now he and his wife Marina make reds that are open-fermented, hand-plunged and basket-pressed before French oak maturation. The cellar door opens Friday to Sunday; Janet Johnson's watercolours hang inside alongside the wines she helped establish when the estate began in 2005.
