On the Freycinet Peninsula, Mount Amos is the granite peak that rises above Wineglass Bay, and the scramble to its top gives the finest view of that famous curve of white sand and blue water - better even than the celebrated lookout below. The climb is short but steep and demanding, crossing bare, sloping granite that is treacherous when wet and best left for dry weather. From the summit the whole peninsula and the Hazards spread out, and the perfect arc of Wineglass Bay lies directly beneath. It is one of the great short climbs in Tasmania, for sure-footed walkers only.
