One of the most accessible of the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Mount Ngungun offers a short, rewarding climb to a summit view over its dramatic volcanic siblings - the spires of Tibrogargan, Beerwah and Coonowrin rising from the plain. The track winds up through open forest and past a shallow cave to the exposed summit ridge, spectacular at sunrise and sunset. The peaks are the eroded cores of ancient volcanoes and hold deep significance for the Jinibara and Gubbi Gubbi peoples. Shorter and gentler than its neighbours, Ngungun is the pick for a first taste of the range.
