Bill Pannell helped build Margaret River's reputation at Moss Wood from 1969, then turned his attention south. At Picardy, the family's Pemberton estate grows unirrigated, hand-picked Pinot Noir on north-facing gravelly loam 35 kilometres from the Southern Ocean — Burgundian clones selected by Bill himself. Son Dan has made the wines alongside him since the first vintage in 1996.
