Established in 1991 and incorporated the following year, this organisation collects and preserves documents, medals, objects, photographs and other materials reflecting the individual and community life of Polish immigrants in Australia, making them available to the public and to academics for research and exhibitions.
Its work centres on post-war migration. The Polish Soldier Migrant Project documents former members of the Polish military who arrived in 1947 and 1948 aboard the Asturias and the Strathnaver, some of whom worked on the Hydro-Electric Scheme in Tasmania. An oral history programme records the pre-war lives, wartime experiences and early years in Australia of these now-elderly pioneers.
