At its peak in the 1880s, Echuca's port stretched 332 metres along the Murray and ranked third busiest in the country. Today the wharf still operates — the PS Pevensey, fitted with its original steam engine, departs daily carrying visitors rather than the 120-ton wool bales it once hauled to Melbourne. Guided tours, steam exhibits and a Discovery Centre fill the rest.
