Phil and Mary Smith planted the first vines here in 1991; the cellar door that followed was literally built into the hillside. The rammed-earth building that replaced it in 2009 is more becoming. New owners Fi and Jason — he comes from Henty View Wines — are keeping the Tempranillo and the heritage intact while quietly modernising the rest. The Ferguson Valley setting does most of the heavy lifting.
