Moyra Jones trained in textile design in Scotland before landing in Sydney, where she spent years translating Ken Done's imagery into fabric. In 2000 she launched Surface Art, hand-printing bold original textiles that became cushions, then clothing. Her Essaye label takes its name from the studio's initials; Theadora Jones, named for her mother, handles limited-edition runs. The Norton Street shop sells fabric by the metre alongside ready-to-wear.
