Julian Castagna原是悉尼电影导演，后被葡萄酒吸引改行。他和Carolann卖掉房产，住进Beechworth外荒地上的房车，于1997年种植了西拉——五个源自1850年代罗讷河谷品系的克隆。稻草包砌酒庄从一开始就采用生物动力法耕作，从花岗岩质土壤中诱引矿物质感，酿出的葡萄酒品风如同Côte-Rôtie，而非澳洲主流风格。
