Thirteen acres of bushland just outside Denmark, on WA's south coast, hold a small collection of self-catering cottages spaced for privacy among the trees. Wood heaters come stocked with firewood and kindling for the cool Great Southern nights, and the town, beaches and the Bibbulmun Track are all a short drive away. Run by Tom and Michelle Warrener, it's a straightforward, family-kept base for walkers, beach-goers and couples wanting bush quiet without going remote.
