Captain Samuel Horton took up land near the Ross bridge in 1823 and the property has never left the family. Bushrangers raided the homestead in 1843 and left a bullet in a door architrave that is still there. Cherries now fill the orchard, hand picked for local and export markets, and the farm shop sells them daily through the season.
