Seahorse World began as University of Tasmania research into the native pot-bellied seahorse, and its farm is Australia's only one approved under CITES to breed and export them, supplying aquariums such as Monterey Bay and Shedd. Guided tours pass through the working farm, where thousands are raised from birth, and an aquarium of weedy seadragons and giant cuttlefish, ending with a seahorse in your palm. Rachelle Hawkins, the project's original senior biologist, now co-owns it.
