The DripGorge

马吉, ULAN, NEW SOUTH WALES

North of Mudgee, where the Goulburn River cuts through sandstone near Ulan, a 2.8-kilometre return track follows the riverbank to the Great Dripping Wall — a 35-metre cliff face where rainwater filters through porous rock and falls in a constant trickle, feeding the ferns and grasses that dot the stone. The gorge runs 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the surrounding country on a hot day, and is a significant place for the Wiradjuri People. Expect steps, uneven rock and creek crossings; no camping or fires at the wall.
