Run by the Mudgee Historical Society, which has kept records since 1964, this museum holds around 60,000 items from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, many of Australian manufacture. They are spread across a mid-nineteenth-century hotel, an early twentieth-century church and a replica slab hut on Market Street. Volunteers also run a family history research service, and displays include Mowgee possum skin cloaks lent by the Warrabinga Aboriginal Corporation.
