Tucked into coastal bushland a kilometre back from Broulee Beach, The Bower is a scatter of adults-only spa villas set roughly a hundred metres apart, each screened by forest for near-total privacy. The architecturally designed retreats trade the language of cabins and cottages for something more considered: double spa baths over underfloor heating, slow-combustion wood fires, full stone-benched kitchens and private barbecue decks. It is pitched squarely at couples — elopements, honeymoons, unhurried anniversaries — on the quiet far reaches of the NSW South Coast, two and a half hours from Canberra.
