Open every day of the year except Christmas Day, 8 to 5, at Julian and Dianne's single-origin dairy farm at Cooriemungle on the Great Ocean Road. Walk in for the $3 tasting — 13 cheeses and 2 gelato flavours — or share a platter at the farmgate cafe with toasties, coffee, milkshakes made from the cows' own milk. The cheeses are named for the coastline: Loch Ard Gorgeous Camembert, The Grotto Washed Rind, Bay of Martyrs Blue Vein, plus the Heytesbury Harvest hard cheese range and Apostle Crumble feta. Watch the cows milked at 4pm every day. The 2-hour farm tour with Julian (Mon-Fri, $55pp) takes in the mooternity ward, the make room and the milking — Julian is genuinely a farmer-as-communicator, with a monthly video journal that's worth a watch before you go.
