Stephen George planted this three-hectare ridge site in 1982, buying land from a market gardener at 570 metres above sea level in the Piccadilly Valley. Forty-plus years of obsessive clone selection — up to 26 Pinot Noir clones trialled, five retained — produced the wines that put Adelaide Hills on the map. Wirra Wirra now holds the reins; winemaker Liam Van Pelt continues from there.
