Baldwin SwampEnvironmental Park

BUNDABERG, BUNDABERG EAST, QUEENSLAND

Freshwater wetlands, open eucalypt forest and remnant Woongarra Scrub sit close to the centre of Bundaberg in this council-managed environmental park. A network of walking tracks, boardwalks and bridges threads through the habitats from several entry points, with car parks on Steindl and George streets in East Bundaberg. The wetlands hold large colonies of waterbirds — magpie geese and whistling ducks among them — and a purpose-built fishway simulates a naturally flowing creek. The swamp is part of a floodway, so take care in wet weather and keep to the tracks.
