Know before you go. Campsites have three-sided shelters, rainwater tanks and toilets, but tank water is neither guaranteed nor treated and tanks can run dry over summer — carry water and the means to treat it. Every campsite between Albany and the Shannon River is a no-fire zone year-round with no fireplaces, so you need a fuel stove. Extended walks are strongly discouraged from December to the start of March: if you go out in that window you must be able to self-evacuate in a bushfire, and you should check Emergency WA for fire danger ratings, total fire bans and prescribed burns before and during your walk.

The southern coastal section of the famous Bibbulmun Track, passing through towering karri forest before reaching the wild Albany coastline.
