The cool-climate garden in the Botanic Gardens of Sydney network sits high on Bells Line of Road, ringed by the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Plants from cold-temperate regions worldwide grow beside native rainforest of giant tree ferns, sassafras and ancient pines, with walking trails and a forest boardwalk running through. A Japanese-inspired camellia collection includes species now extinct in the wild, and deciduous maples turn gold each autumn. A café at the visitor centre looks out over the ranges. Open daily.
