Brambuk – The National Park and Cultural Centre
Grampians, VIC
The building's roofline — drawn from cockatoo wings and the mountain ranges — announces what's inside: a cultural centre at the entrance to Gariwerd, giving shape to 30,000 years of Jadawadjali and Djab wurrung connection to this country. More than 60 rock art sites are accessible from here, holding upward of 4,000 motifs. The landscape, the source material makes clear, was never wilderness — it was managed.
