David and Jenny Kennedy moved from Sydney to Byron Bay in 2005 with a Turkish roaster, planning a roastery and café in Bangalow. Council knocked that back, so they set up in a roller-door space in the Arts & Industry Estate instead. Twenty years on, Bun roasts around sixty single origins at a time — Himalayan and Madagascan lots, plus Australian-grown beans — all organic, Fair Trade or Rainforest Alliance. The café's in the Estate; the roastery and a second café are in Ballina.
