Artists founded this McMinn Street space in 1983, wanting direct control over where and how their work was shown. Four decades on, that logic still runs the place — DVAA remains artist-run, with studios, exhibitions, and critical dialogue operating outside the institutional gallery circuit. For Darwin's contemporary art scene, it functions as both workshop and public forum.
