Fusilier Cottage

HOBART CITY, BATTERY POINT, TASMANIA

Hobart City, Battery Point, TasmaniaGet Directions

Angus McLeod, bandmaster of the 21st Royal Scots Fusiliers, built this bluestone and sandstone cottage with convict labour around 1838 and named it for his regiment. He led Hobart's first quadrille band and taught music in its front rooms. In 2018 the owners had Bence-Mulcahy set a contemporary extension behind the heritage shell — four bedrooms, two bathrooms, Tasmanian furniture and art, a sycamore over the garden. Level access throughout, which is close to unheard of in a Georgian cottage. Sleeps six.
