Gail Tavener has been winning awards for painting and photography since the early 1960s. Her Golden Square studio shows oils, watercolours, pastels and acrylics spanning Bendigo streetscapes and historic trams to native flora and birdlife. The tram archive alone — over 40 film photographs from 1972 — is worth the visit. Prints, tea towels, cushion covers and notebooks are all made locally in Bendigo.
