The Gold Coast's main public gallery sits within a 17-hectare precinct at Evandale that's been reshaping itself since the 1970s — most recently with a new gallery building added in 2021. ARM Architecture won the design commission from a field of 75 international entries. Inside: contemporary exhibitions alongside the city's permanent collection, on a site that was still growing sugar cane within living memory.
