Hotel Binalong
Canberra Wine District, NSW
A 1922 country pub on Fitzroy Street, Binalong — the Banjo Paterson childhood village. The licence transferred from the 1842 Commercial Hotel next door when that closed; both buildings still face each other across the street. Twelve rooms upstairs with shared bathrooms, electric blankets and ceiling fans. Pub bistro in the dining room with an open fireplace, fire pit in the beer garden, Wednesday roast nights. The current owner-publicans are restoring the building back to its original character.
