Daniel Zhang is a surgeon in training who grinds fountain pen nibs by hand — a less strange pairing than it sounds, both being precision work at a millimetre scale. He taught himself on JOWO #6 blanks because the service barely existed in Australia, then moved onto Montblanc and Nakaya. The repertoire runs stub, architect, needlepoint and naginata, plus two of his own naming: The Double and The Sparrow-Hawk. Mail-in, with same-day appointments at the Melbourne pen show.
