The museum holds more than 15,000 artefacts and over 1,000 recorded oral histories and testimonies, and its school programs have long put students in a room with a Holocaust survivor telling their own story. Behind the galleries sit a research library, a family Holocaust research service, research fellowships and a journal. It closed to general visitors in January 2025 for an expansion of its heritage-listed Darlinghurst Road building, due to reopen in early 2027.
